Explore The Local Area

Both cottages are situated in the very heart of the Peak District, There is simply so much to do for walkers, climbers, bikers, tourists and families. All the caverns are within easy reach either by foot or car. If your visit requires nothing more than relaxation and to unwind then take a 3 minute walk from either cottage to the local pubs and restaurants. For the more athletically challenged walkers there are so many walks from the doorstep of both cottages – our favourite being the Castleton – Hope circular walk up Cavedale to Mam Tor along the ridge to Hope and back to Castleton via Hope along the river, should you be staying in Old Hall cottage you simply reverse the route !  This area of the Peak District is well known for its popular climbing locations boasting some of the best climbing spots in the UK. World famous crags and cliffs are here in abundance, Stanage, Froggatt, Burbage and Curbar Edge are all only a few miles away so climbers of all levels are spoilt for choice. For bikers- road or off road there are simply too many to list – a google search of the area will give you multiple routes for all abilities. If its family cycling you require then the Monsal, Tissington trail and the Manifold track are all flat, traffic free routes.
